Her collection of essays Because You Have To: A Writing Life (University of Notre Dame Press, 2012) received the Foreword
Review Book of the Year Award in 2013. Frank's All The News I Need: A Novel (University of Massachusetts Press, 2017) garnered
the 2016 Juniper Prize for Fiction. The collection reveals Frank's development as a writer and mentor of her craft. Frank
received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College in 1996 and has taught or lectured at San Francisco State
University, Sonoma State University, and University of Notre Dame. Frank's subjects include women, relationships, aging, humor,

descriptive work is set in California. Along with her own fiction, Frank has contributed extensive reviews of other writers'
works to a variety of literary magazines, including the New York Times Book Review, the San Francisco Review of Books, and
the American Book Review, and AUTHOR Magazine. Her short fiction and essays have appeared in a number of anthologies such
as Ploughshares SOLOS, From Daughters to Mothers: An Anthology of Letters (Simon and Schuster, 1997), Americans in Paris:
